Colin Valley Golf Course, formerly known as the Old Dunmurry Golf Course, previously flourished as a public 18 hole course but fell into disrepair due to pressure on the land after it was vested by the Department of the Environment for the construction of the Dunmurry by-pass.

Colin Glen Trust took over the management of the remaining 56 acres in 1994 and began to restructure the course and the management systems. Over two years the Trust turned it from a loss making facility to one that made a small profit, which in turn was ploughed back into the development of the greens and fairways.

Today Colin Valley is an excellent 9-hole par 33 course attracts players from throughout Belfast and beyond. In 1997 the Trust introduced an attractive membership scheme to enable the many local players to join the newly formed Colin Valley Golf Club, whilst Pay and Play facilities also continue to be made available.

New developments for the course in since 2000 have seen the creation of new greens and tees, the realignment of the Course to facilitate a new entrance at Blacks Road, and the development of an outdoor Bowling Green.

This unique facility ensures the protection of an important piece of green space in an area of increasing developmental pressure, and is an extension of the wildlife haven of Colin Glen Forest Park less than a mile upstream along the Colin River which links the two properties. Colin Valley Golf Course also provides financial support for Colin Glen Forest Park, as any income is ploughed back to the Trust to help manage the Glen.

In 2001 the course received affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland and has recently completed a successful cross-community GolfTech Project. Introducing young golfers from both communities, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to meet, they were given instruction on golf etiquette and golf tuition from professional golfing instructors.

The Colin Valley Golf Course also boasts densely wooded plantations, with United States Golfers Association (USGA) specification greens and professionally trained greens staff, coaching services, club hire, membership, and pay and play services. There is also a bowling green and golf school facilities within the complex.

Colin Valley Golf Complex is pleased to announce that it will be re-opening its Driving Range facility in 2007, which closed in 2001 due to design faults and is expected to attract over 70,000 users in its first year.
